Tourist Entry Fee Enforced in Naran, Kaghan, and Saif-ul-Malook to Manage Rising Visitor Traffic

To better manage the growing influx of tourists and fund essential services, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has made it mandatory for visitors to pay an entry fee before accessing top tourist destinations such as Naran, Kaghan, and Lake Saif-ul-Malook.

A formal decision has been made to establish a structured fee system at Hussamabad, a key entry point into the Kaghan Valley. Tourists will be charged based on their mode of transport:

• PKR 200 per person for large passenger vehicles

• PKR 100 per person for small private vehicles

• PKR 20 per person for motorcyclists

The fee is not applicable to local residents, who remain exempt under the new policy.

Authorities say this initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote eco-friendly and responsible tourism, improve infrastructure, and manage environmental degradation caused by overcrowding.

This move reflects a growing trend in Pakistan’s northern areas, where regional governments are adopting structured tourism policies to cope with rising footfall during the summer and festival seasons.
