Punjab clears sky walk bridge, cable car and chairlift projects for Murree

Murree: The Punjab government has cleared feasibility studies for new tourism projects in Murree, including a Sky Walk Glass Bridge costing Rs72.152 million and a Chairlift & Cable Car from Lakot to Pindi Point estimated at Rs90 million.

The decision was taken at a Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) meeting chaired by Planning & Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf. The projects are designed to make Murree a more attractive destination for tourists by offering adventure-style experiences and improved facilities.

In addition to Murree, the PDWP also approved a feasibility for a Cable Car at River Indus in Kala Bagh, Mianwali (Rs81.571 million). Collectively, schemes worth Rs5.118 billion were sanctioned, spanning tourism, infrastructure, minority affairs, and IT.

Key projects include a Rs1.374 billion road from Danda Shah Bilawal to Ghool via Lawa (Chakwal), the Chief Minister’s Minority Development Programme (Rs1 billion), a Rs200 million feasibility for a Lahore theme park, and the Rs2.3 billion Accelerate Punjab Startups Tech Programme.

Senior officials present included Secretary P&D Board Rafaqat Ali, Secretary Tourism Raja Jahangir, Secretary Minorities Affairs Farid Ahmad, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, and other board members.
