Senior bureaucrat, inspirational speaker, and popular columnist Asad Tahir Jappa is currently touring Italy, and it’s turning out to be quite a memorable journey. Just yesterday, the Pakistani community in Sondrio gathered to celebrate his literary work and to appreciate two of his beloved books — Dehati Babu and his poetry collection Khaak-e-Batha.
The event was warm and engaging, presided over by Pakistan’s Consul General in Milan, Ms. Aqsaa Nawaz. Former ambassador Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Chaudhry graced the occasion as chief guest. Behind the scenes, Muhammad Nawaz Gulyana, who leads the Global Writers Association Italy, made sure everything was perfectly organised. Pakistanis living all over Italy didn’t miss the chance to attend and show their love for their homeland’s literature.
Many know Asad Tahir Jappa not just as a civil servant but as part of the well-respected Jappa Brothers — a family name that carries weight in Pakistan’s government circles. These days, he’s working on his PhD at the University of Leicester in the UK, but his impressive résumé includes stints as Director Media and spokesperson at FBR Islamabad, Commissioner in Sargodha, and several other key roles.
Aside from managing big offices, Asad has a dedicated fan base for his writing. His weekly Urdu column, “Dil Ma Roshan,” lights up the pages of Daily 92 News every Wednesday — and readers can’t get enough of it.
