Murree to restrict Independence Day access to families, imposes Section 144 for three days
MURREE – In a bid to ensure safety and crowd control during Independence Day festivities, Murree’s administration has imposed Section 144 for three consecutive days, allowing entry to designated areas only for families.
Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi announced that the restrictions will be in force from August 12 to 14, 2025, covering popular public spots including Mall Road and GPO Chowk.
The decision, recommended by the District Intelligence Committee on July 30, comes amid concerns about overcrowding, security threats, and potential disorder during the celebrations.
Officials confirmed that violators will be booked under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Authorities have urged visitors to cooperate with law enforcement personnel to ensure a smooth and secure Independence Day experience for all.
