Mohsin Naqvi vows to revive Islamabad’s Saidpur Village as modern tourist and commercial hub
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has set its sights on turning Saidpur Model Village into an international-standard tourist and commercial attraction, with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi pledging to use all available resources for its revival.
Acting on his orders, authorities have launched a comprehensive anti-encroachment operation in the area. Buildings constructed illegally on 360 kanals of land after 2005 are being demolished, while several properties illegally occupied for years without rent have already been vacated.
During his visit to Saidpur, the minister inspected the restoration and beautification efforts and directed the CDA and DMA to ensure strict, non-discriminatory action against encroachments. He emphasized that all recovered properties should be auctioned in a fair and transparent manner.
Naqvi further announced that famous restaurant chains from Karachi and Lahore would soon be introduced in the village to enhance its cultural and recreational appeal. He said the redevelopment of Saidpur would not only boost Islamabad’s charm but also provide citizens with a modern entertainment and dining hub.
Briefing the minister, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that authorities are using satellite imagery to track down illegal post-2005 constructions, while the green core area of Saidpur is also being restored to its original condition. The minister was accompanied by senior CDA officials, ADCG, and SSP Operations during the inspection.
