Marka-e-Haq Monument under construction in Islamabad’s H-8 to honour armed forces

ISLAMABAD – Construction has officially begun on the Marka-i-Haq Monument in Sector H-8, a landmark project aimed at paying tribute to the courage of Pakistan’s armed forces who repelled Indian aggression during the four-day conflict earlier this May.

The site, located at Pakistan Movement Park, has been handed over by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO). Heavy machinery and cranes have already been deployed, with earth-leveling underway and older structures dismantled to make way for the monument.

According to CDA officials, the initiative is being carried out on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and is fully funded by the federal government. “The purpose of this project is to honour the sacrifices of Shuhada and Ghazis of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos,” an official confirmed.

Although the final design remains under wraps, sources suggest the monument will feature a symbolic “unbreakable wall” to represent Pakistan’s resilient defence. The country’s tallest national flag, which already stands at the site, will remain part of the project, though its placement may be adjusted.

Pakistan Movement Park, originally developed to showcase the nation’s history through pictorial displays, had long suffered neglect. Its boundary wall was left incomplete, marble work remained unfinished, and display walls had faded. On Thursday, CDA demolished the deteriorating picture walls as part of the redesign, which will see the park integrated into the monument’s development.
