Indonesia Embassy Hosts Second Annual Family Gala: A Celebration of Friendship, Culture, and Culinary Diversity

Islamabad: The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Islamabad hosted the second edition of the “Family Gala: Fun Games and Sports,” a joyous event aimed at celebrating the enduring bonds between the Indonesian Embassy and its Pakistani friends from various walks of life. The lively gathering unfolded in the Embassy’s backyard, drawing participation from the diplomatic corps, government officials, media professionals, and their families.

Expressing his appreciation, Ambassador Mr. Adam Tugio thanked the friends of Indonesia from the diplomatic community and Pakistan for their support and cooperation, which has contributed to strengthening bilateral ties and people-to-people connections between the two countries. He acknowledged the pivotal role of media professionals in promoting economic and socio-development in Indonesia to a broader audience in Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of cultural activities in fostering understanding and friendship.

During the event, Chairperson of Rawalpindi Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ms. Riffat Shaheen, presented a hand-sculpted replica of the world’s largest flower model, “Titan Arum,” symbolizing the flourishing friendship between Indonesia and Pakistan. The Titan Arum is considered a symbol of long life, beauty, resilience, and cultural richness.

The festivities featured a musical performance by a Pakistani band and a cultural dance presentation by Indonesian ladies, offering a delightful experience for all attendees. The cultural interchange aimed to deepen appreciation for the diverse traditions shared by Indonesia and Pakistan.

Attendees had the opportunity to savor the best of Indonesian cuisine, including Bakso (beef ball soup), Sate Ayam (Indonesian chicken tikka), and Nasi Goreng (fried rice), providing an unforgettable experience of Indonesian culinary diversity. Stalls set up by entrepreneurs from Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry showcased beautiful handmade jewelry and fashionable Pakistani traditional clothes.

Children enjoyed a dedicated face painting corner, unleashing their creativity on colorful canvases filled with smiles and laughter. Traditional Indonesian games added an extra layer of excitement among the children.

Distinguished guests at the family gathering included Ambassador Kazhar Farhadov of Azerbaijan, High Commissioner Pengiran Kamal Bashah Achmad of Brunei Darussalam, and Director-General Mr. Asif Iqbal Khan of the National Library of Pakistan. The event not only celebrated the strong ties between Indonesia and Pakistan but also fostered a spirit of friendship, cultural exchange, and shared joy among all participants.
