Imran Khan Claims Ex-ISI Chief Faiz Hameed Being Coerced to Testify Against Him

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has alleged that former ISI chief Faiz Hameed is being coerced into becoming a state witness against him.

During an informal conversation with journalists at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Imran Khan claimed that the recent arrest of Faiz Hameed was a strategic move intended to transfer his case to a military court. “All the charges against me are hollow and won’t stand. This is all part of a plan to get the case into military court,” he asserted.

Khan further argued that Hameed’s involvement in the case was a deliberate effort to frame him and weaken his defense. “They’ll make Faiz Hameed turn state witness against me,” he added, emphasizing his belief that the authorities are manipulating the situation to their advantage.

On the previous Saturday, the former premier had expressed his lack of concern regarding Hameed’s arrest, stating that he did not feel intimidated by the developments. He remarked that if he had been fearful, he would not have called for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the matter.

Imran Khan also took the opportunity to criticize former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s accusations that PTI had ruined the economy during its tenure. He referred to the Economic Survey of Pakistan to counter these allegations, pointing out that the previous government had left a significant $19.5 billion deficit. This financial shortfall, he argued, was the primary reason for PTI’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Khan’s comments reflect the ongoing tensions between the PTI leadership and the current government, as well as the broader struggle over the handling of legal cases against him and other party members.
