How to apply for Sindh’s free solar panel scheme for low-income households

In a bid to ease the burden of high electricity bills on low-income citizens, the Sindh government has rolled out a free solar panel scheme for households with minimal power consumption.

The scheme targets consumers who have used less than 100 electricity units per month over the past six months. A total of 130,000 households will benefit from the initiative, which also seeks to promote the use of renewable energy.

Applicants must not have benefited from any other government solar programme. To apply, individuals need to complete an application form and attach their electricity bill and a copy of their national identity card. The form must be verified by their Union Council (UC) Chairman or a gazetted officer.

Submissions should be sent to the Sindh Energy Department, specifically under the “Project of Home Solar System (On-Grid),” no later than August 20, 2025.

Authorities hope the project will serve as a model for expanding solar energy adoption while reducing electricity costs for the most vulnerable households.
