PESHAWAR: In a series of intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces have killed five suspected terrorists and arrested two others, according to the military’s media wing.
The operations, carried out on April 30 and May 1, targeted suspected militant hideouts in Bajaur, North Waziristan, and Mohmand districts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Friday.
In Bajaur, three militants were killed during a fierce gunfight, including a high-profile figure identified as Fareedullah. The action followed a tip-off about the presence of armed men in the area, prompting a swift response from the security forces.
In a separate raid in the Dosali area of North Waziristan, two more militants were gunned down in an exchange of fire. No security personnel were reported injured in either encounter.
Meanwhile, in Mohmand district, troops stormed a suspected hideout and captured two militants. Among those arrested was a key operative identified as Lal Amir, also known by the alias Ibrahim.
During the operations, troops recovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives. The ISPR said the suspects were involved in multiple terror activities in the region.
A search and clearance operation remains underway as security forces continue efforts to root out remaining threats. The military reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorism and restoring peace in the region.
