Ethiopian Embassy Applauds Senate Resolution on Pakistan-Africa Friendship

Islamabad: The Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad has welcomed a landmark resolution passed by the Senate of Pakistan, declaring May 25 as Pakistan-Africa Friendship Day. The resolution, unanimously adopted on May 22, 2025, coincided with the observance of Africa Day and was attended by African ambassadors and diplomats based in Islamabad.

In a statement, the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia praised the move as a meaningful step towards strengthening ties between Pakistan and the African continent. The resolution reflects Pakistan’s growing interest in expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation with African nations under its ‘Look Africa’ and ‘Engage Africa’ policies.

“The Ethiopian Embassy appreciates this pivotal resolution, which demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to deeper engagement with Africa across multiple sectors,” the statement said.

The Embassy further reiterated Ethiopia’s readiness to work closely with Pakistan on shared goals, including global peace, sustainable development, and climate cooperation—particularly under the umbrella of South-South cooperation.

“This is an opportunity to reaffirm Ethiopia’s commitment to building strong, mutually beneficial relations with Pakistan for a greener, more peaceful, and connected future,” the statement concluded.
