Ethiopian Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula pays farewell call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD, October 10, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, the outgoing Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Pakistan, for a farewell call at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker on the successful completion of his tenure and appreciated his valuable contributions toward strengthening Pakistan–Ethiopia relations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz lauded the Ambassador’s efforts in achieving key diplomatic milestones during his tenure, including the conclusion of the Bilateral Trade Agreement and the resumption of direct flights between Karachi and Addis Ababa, which have greatly enhanced connectivity and economic cooperation between the two nations.

Recognizing Ethiopia’s growing importance in Africa, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding mutually beneficial collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, and technical capacity-building.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker expressed his deep gratitude to the Prime Minister for the consistent support and warm friendship extended to him by the Government and people of Pakistan throughout his tenure.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his best wishes to the Ambassador for his future endeavors and extended warm regards to the Ethiopian leadership, expressing his hope for enhanced high-level engagement between the two countries in the future.
