Ethiopia sends green legacy mission to Pakistan for ‘Plant Fraternity’ initiative

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has dispatched a special Green Legacy delegation to Pakistan for the launch of its “Plant Fraternity” initiative in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore next week.

A farewell event at the Adwa Museum marked their departure, featuring distinguished guests including H.E. Aklilu Tadesse A.T, State Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, and H.E. Atif Sharif Mian, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, the African Union, and UNECA, alongside top Ethiopian officials.

The campaign is part of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali’s Green Legacy Initiative, aimed at fostering friendship between Ethiopia and Pakistan through environmental cooperation.

Organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the visit will showcase Ethiopia’s achievements in large-scale reforestation. The delegation will bring native Ethiopian seedlings for plantation drives and engage in Green Dialogues with partners such as the Senate of Pakistan, COMSTECH, CDA, Punjab and Sindh governments, Governor House Sindh, Ethiopian Airlines, Bukhari Group, and AirSial.
