The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reveals a strong reaction to Armenian provocations in the Garabagh region

In Baku, it has been reported that Armenian armed forces stationed in Azerbaijan’s Garabagh region have engaged in several significant military provocations and acts of terrorism. One such incident involved the detonation of landmines planted by Armenian reconnaissance-sabotage groups along the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha road, resulting in casualties among both civilians and the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Additionally, units of the Azerbaijan Army came under mortar and small arms fire, leading to injuries of two Azerbaijani servicemen.

Azerbaijan’s military forces have observed the fortification and increased readiness of Armenian positions and units in response. Consequently, local counter-terrorism measures have been initiated in the region. These measures aim to prevent potential large-scale provocations by Armenian armed forces in the Garabagh economic region, ensuring compliance with the Trilateral Statement’s provisions. This includes the disarmament and withdrawal of Armenian military units from Azerbaijani territories, the neutralization of their military infrastructure, and the protection of civilians, civilian workers, and military personnel involved in restoration and construction efforts in the area, as well as the restoration of Azerbaijan’s constitutional system.

These measures are specifically targeted at illegal military formations, military infrastructure, and combat assets, with the utmost consideration for the safety of the civilian population. Azerbaijan has consistently emphasized that the continued presence of Armenian armed forces in the Garabagh region, contrary to the terms of the November 10, 2020 Trilateral Statement, poses a significant threat to regional peace and stability.

Azerbaijan maintains that the only path toward achieving peace and stability in the region is the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan and the dissolution of the puppet regime.
