Shortly prior to the Matric Exam, Punjab introduces unexpected alterations to school subjects
In a significant update concerning 9th and 10th-grade students, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has opted to reduce the number of subjects for these classes.
Providing specifics regarding this decision, a spokesperson from BISE Lahore mentioned that, starting from the academic session 2024-26, only ninth-grade students will be examined in Islamic Studies, while tenth-grade students will undergo Pakistan Studies examinations.
The spokesperson indicated that the marks allocated for both subjects have increased from 50 to 100. Additionally, the Punjab Textbook Board has been instructed to produce books in accordance with the latest curriculum modifications.
Recently, BISE Lahore declared that the upcoming Matric exams are scheduled to commence from March 1, 2024. This announcement followed a meeting of the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen held at BISE Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, the tentative date sheet for the 9th and 10th annual examinations in 2024 was finalized. As per the tentative date sheet for Punjab matric exams, the class 10th papers are set to start with the History of Pakistan on March 1.
Subsequent exams include Punjabi on March 2, English Compulsory on March 4, and Arabic on March 5. The complete date sheet is as follows:
