A Taxi Driver’s Heartwarming Encounter: A Passenger Leaves Behind a Dog with a Special Note

In Bogotá, Colombia, Dagoberto Rojas Buitrago makes his living by shuttling passengers around the bustling city. One day, a man carrying a black bag hailed his taxi, requesting a ride to a local mall. Rojas Buitrago, ever the accommodating driver, readily agreed.

The journey seemed typical, filled with casual conversation, until they reached their destination. That’s when the passenger, clutching his bag, made an unexpected request.

“He told me he didn’t have money and needed to visit an ATM,” Rojas Buitrago recounted. “But as soon as he stepped out of the car, the bag began to move.”

“After waiting for about an hour, I was sure he had been abandoned,” Rojas Buitrago lamented. “He seemed anxious. As I held him, he frantically scanned the area for the man, who never returned. So, I decided to take the dog with me to work for the rest of the morning.”

After a few hours of sharing the taxi, Rojas Buitrago realized that the dog was something special. That’s when he made the life-changing decision to make the pup a permanent part of his family.

“We didn’t have any pets at home, so I thought, ‘Well, I’ll adopt him!'” Rojas Buitrago revealed. “We named him Toby Taxista.”

Despite Toby Taxista’s initial nervousness, he quickly settled into his new, loving home. Guided by the detailed note from his previous owner, Rojas Buitrago and his family got to know Toby’s personality and routine.

“We followed the instructions precisely as written in the letter,” Rojas Buitrago shared. “His day starts at 5:00 a.m., and he joins the family for multiple outings throughout the day.”

Over a year has passed since Rojas Buitrago discovered the dog in his taxi, and their bond has grown stronger than ever. Toby Taxista often accompanies his dad to work, cheerfully greeting passengers. And when he’s not in the taxi, Toby knows exactly when to expect his beloved owner at home.

“He knows I get home around 10 p.m., and he waits for me at the door,” Rojas Buitrago affectionately said.
