“Imran Khan attributes May 9 riots to Nawaz Sharif.”

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, presently in custody, has announced his intention to petition the court to summon General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, the former Army Chief, regarding the cipher case. Imran Khan disclosed this during an informal discussion with journalists at Adiala Jail.

He elucidated the circumstances surrounding his arrest, attributing it to a plan orchestrated in London. Drawing a comparison with Nawaz Sharif, he pointed out that after the London plan, Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan. Moreover, he alleged Nawaz Sharif’s involvement in the incidents of May 9.

Journalist Azaz Syed posted on Twitter that during a conversation with reporters in jail, Imran Khan expressed his intention to call Gen Bajwa to court, stating that Bajwa acted under Donald Lu’s directives. Khan also mentioned bringing US Embassy officials and Gen Bajwa as witnesses, claiming that Lu delivered the cypher to Bajwa with intentions to remove him from power, similar to what happened with Sheikh Mujib. He asserted his party’s victory in the forthcoming elections.

Imran Khan, the former Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accused General Bajwa of following instructions from US diplomat Donald Lu and affirmed his determination to ensure Bajwa’s accountability in court.

Addressing a question, Imran Khan emphasized his non-involvement in negotiations for a deal, expressing readiness to provide a written statement affirming PTI’s triumph in the elections.

He added that his time in jail has been without hardship and deemed it a form of devotion. Regarding the departure of PTI leaders, Khan expressed gratitude, considering it a positive development.

It’s noteworthy that a special court under the Secret Act has scheduled December 12 as the date for formally charging Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the Safdar case, involving an alleged altercation with law enforcement during Maryam Nawaz’s rally at Quaid’s mausoleum.

Imran Khan also claimed no meetings or negotiations occurred during his imprisonment and asserted PTI’s anticipated victory in the elections. He referred to incidents on May 9, highlighting Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s attempt to prevent entry into the Lahore Corps Commander House and urged scrutiny of CCTV footage to identify those responsible.

Additionally, Khan dismissed allegations via Khawar Maneka and affirmed witnessing Bushra Bibi on the day of their marriage.

He vowed to persist in the fight and alleged a supposed London Plan aimed at reinstating Nawaz Sharif, incarcerating PTI members, and dismantling the party.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in response to queries, stated his indifference to holding any office within the party and pledged continuous support for Khan. He encouraged PTI supporters to vote and affirmed his loyalty to Imran Khan and the party.
